Wrestling - Work the edge
Words I Like - “Pressure makes people act out of character.”
Outlier Mat Minute: Wrestling - Work the edge
Pushing your opponent toward the edge of the mat limits their options. In wrestling, this is called “working the edge.” Once near the edge, they usually respond in one of three ways:
Option 1 - Pressure: To avoid being pushed out, they pressure into us. This opens up counters:
Option 2 - Circle: It is hard for them to circle back to the center while staying in a good defensive posture. Often this can be a good time to level change and shoot in for their legs.
Option 3 - Shoot: To stop our forward pressure, they may shoot. Often, these are rushed and uncharacteristic takedown attempts that will be easier for us to defend and counter.
P.S. If you are looking for additional study material, below is a link to my video as well as the video that inspired this thought process for me.

How would you apply this to bjj? I compete in a ruleset here un Spain that has the same rules as wrestling regarding the mat area so this is super useful.
