Using Movement from the Front Headlock
Words I Like: "A lot of my guillotine setups are movement based." – Gordon Ryan
Outlier Mat Minute: Using Movement from the Front Headlock
Creating movement is an effective way to win the grip fight from the front headlock to set up a guillotine. We can use our bodyweight to destabilize our opponent as we fall into the inverted front headlock. From there, we can setup our attacks:
Inverted Front Headlock: In this position, the defender often escapes to the side of our overhook (view.)
Shoulder Roll: As the attacker, we roll over the shoulder of our overhook to initiate movement towards a standard front headlock, looking for a guillotine opportunity (view.)
Nicky Ryan's Breakdown: This guillotine setup in a detailed lesson at B-Team (view.)
