Twister Side Control
Words I Like - “Movement is your friend. Use it to open doors.”
Outlier Mat Minute: Twister Side Control
I never used Twister Side Control much, but after seeing Luke Griffith use it, I started trying it too. Here are some quick tips:
Classic Twister Side Control: You drive your opponent’s near elbow up with your hips, opening up space to step over into mount.
Variation of Twister Side Control: Luke Griffith was playing a variation of twister side control where he has his hips above the near arm. From here he plays a dilemma of getting under his opponent’s elbow with his arm or stepping over to mount. Both options are great for creating back exposure.
Craig Jones: If you want to do some #craigshit you can try an arm bar from here
Luke Griffith has a match coming up on WNO against Victor Hugo. If he is able to pass Victor’s guard, I will be watching for this attack sequence.
As promised, jiu-jitsu insights in under 1 minute!
P.S. If you struggle moving your opponent's elbows from side control, movement can be your friend. Transitioning to north-south to set up this twister side control variation can be an effective tool to add to your arsenal.
