Outlier Mat Minute: Transitioning from the back into mount
When you lose control from the back, you can look to take top position in mount. Ideally, when we get to mount we do so with the defender’s arm still across our body.
#backescape + #mountentry - It’s often taught to cross your feet on their far hip when transitioning from the back to mount. This works well, but the defender can usually recover their arms and block follow-up attacks.
#backescape + #mountentry + #bodytraingle - Locking a side body triangle makes it harder for them to turn into you. This helps you get to mount with their arm still trapped across your body—perfect for attacking arm triangles, retaking the back, or flowing into katagatame variations like the farce.
