Snap Down
Words I Like - “The snap down is the single most important setup in stand up grappling.” -John Danaher
Outlier Mat Minute: Snap Down
Snap downs can be set up from a variety of grips. Here are some of my favorite setups:
Arm Drag: This setup is so smooth.
Inside Bicep Tie: Using double inside bicep ties transitions nicely into a snap down.
Underhook: This wrestling example is so beautiful I wanted to show it to you.
Thigh Pry: If our opponent has an underhook, you can counter with a thigh pry.
Overhook: While unconventional, the overhook can also create great snap-down opportunities.
As promised, jiu-jitsu insights in under 1 minute!
P.S. I am working on a front headlock video now (hence all the wrestling video study.) Stay tuned!
