Outlier Mat Minute: Isolate their Arm from Mount
When attacking from mount, here is a nice dilemma we can play to isolate their arm.
#mount + #gripfight - Take a cross grip from mount to pin their wrist to the mat.
#mount + #isolation - If their hands are high by their face, the cross grip works well. After a few attempts, they may drop their hands near our hips. This makes the cross grip harder but opens the elbow for an underhook.
#mountescape + #kippingescape - With their hands low, they can try a kipping escape. Stop this by sliding your forearm under their chin to keep their shoulders flat while you work for the underhook.
#trapandroll - Our opponent can use our underhook against us by trapping our arm to set up a trap and roll escape. To prevent this, when we take an underhook we can point our palm to the ceiling to get our hand wide and our elbow deep, giving us an effective underhook.
