Inside Camping Guard Retention
Words I Like – “The low leg is key to guard retention.”
Outlier Mat Minute: Inside Camping Guard Retention
Inside camping can be tough to deal with, but here are some simple ways to keep your guard alive while maintaining your stamina.
#insidecamping + #butterflyhalfguardpass - The passer wants to inside camp against your knee shield, not butterfly half guard.
#insidecamping + #guardretention - Threaten to pummel in your butterfly hook. As they adjust their posture to block it, push off your knee shield to retain our guard.
#insidecamping + #lowleg - Use a shoulder grip with your knee shield push. This gives you the ability to partially invert, increasing the range of motion of your low leg.
#scoopgrip + #lowleg - Reach for their far leg. As they sprawl to stop it, slip your trapped leg free with a low leg motion.
#adelefornarino - If they step over your bottom leg, shoot your knee shield across to their far hip.
