Outlier Mat Minute: Arm Triangle Variation
When we attack an arm triangle, the defender may turn away to alleviate the pressure of the strangle. As the attacker, normally we can look to take the back, but this grip is a great option. Check it out!
Giles Trials: Uros used an interesting grip to finish the arm triangle as the defender tried to turn away. It was so interesting Craig Jones commented on it, calling it an ezekiel variation.
Giancarlo Bodoni: The first time I saw this was from Giancarlo’s training footage. It seems like he leans his weight forward towards his head to apply the finish.
Gordon Ryan: Gordon uses a standard figure 4 grip with the same finishing mechanics of leaning his weight forward. As we saw from Uros and Giancarlo, the inverted grip may be even stronger.
As promised, jiu-jitsu insights in under 1 minute!
P.S. This video was just posted by Uros. It is quite helpful! Check it out here.
