When passing from half guard, having threats in both directions gives us a dilemma we can play to pass the guard.
#raudragescape - The Rau drag is a strong pass from knee shield half guard. But if the guard player brings their foot inside (butterfly half guard), the Rau drag becomes risky.
#butterflyhalfguardpass + #legdrag - When trying to pass butterfly half guard, we lose the Rau drag but gain the option to switch sides and go into outside passing.
#halfguardpass + #dilemma - If their foot drifts toward butterfly half guard, we threaten the switch to outside passing. To stop this, they’ll move their foot outside, which opens up the Rau drag.
