Front Headlock Breakdown (Hips to the Mat)

Outlier Mat Minute: Front Headlock Breakdown (Hips to the Mat)
From the front headlock, a simple goal is to break the defender’s hips down to the mat. Here’s a knee-tap style breakdown I’ve found recently and have enjoyed:
#nogi + #frontheadlock + #hipstothemat- From the front headlock in BJJ, the defender usually posts their foot on the side of your control arm. When they do, keep your chin strap and reach across with your control arm to pick their far knee. This drops their hips to the mat.
#wrestling + #frontheadlock + #hipstothemat - In wrestling, posture is usually flipped. The defender posts their foot on the side of your chin strap. Now you keep your control arm in place and reach across with your chin-strap arm to tap the far knee.
#dresserdump -This looks a lot like a dresser dump. The main difference seems to be a classic dresser dump grabs the knee from the inside.
#dilemma - As you try to put their hips on the mat, they may change posture to stop you. When they do, be ready to transition to another form of attack such as going behind to turtle.
As promised, jiu jitsu insights in under 1 minute!
P.S. You can search any of the above #s on the Outlier Database to dive deeper. Happy studying!
