Outlier Mat Minute: Arm Bar Triangle Dilemma
From juji gatame (spiderweb), the classic advice is to pummel your legs into a position where you can attack both the triangle and arm bar. Here’s how:
#34jujigatame + #triangle - Pummel both legs up by your opponent’s head (3-4 juji gatame) to threaten an arm bar or a front triangle.
#jujigatame + #reartriangle- Instead of feet by their head, put both feet in their armpit to transition into a rear triangle.
#jujigatame + #gripbreak + #armbar - If our opponent keeps their back on the mat to prevent the triangle, we can cross our feet over their far arm to break their grip to attack the arm bar.
#jujigatame + #pummel - Invert your torso leg so your foot can post against their far arm. This exposes their far elbow so you can pummel your legs into better attacking positions.
Upgrading your foot position from juji gatame to a spot where you can threaten both the triangle and arm bar will drastically boost your finishing rate.
