Outlier Mat Minute: Are You Using This Form of Arm Drag?
An arm drag is a foundational technique. Most people think of arm drags as pulling their opponent’s arm across the body. But there’s another form where the arm never crosses—this is called a straight arm drag.
#armdrag + #sweep - The straight arm drag can be great for off balancing our opponent overhead leading to sweeps.
#armdrag + #wrestleup - If we can not directly get the sweep, we can use the off balance created by the straight arm drag to wrestle up.
#armdrag + #handstothemat + #underhookbottomplayer - As they extend to stop the off-balance, win the upper body battle by taking an underhook.
#armdrag + #handstothemat+ #crossashientry - Using the straight arm drag to get their hand to the mat can also opens up opportunities for us to attack the legs.
Distinguishing between a #straightarmdrag and a #crossarmdrag helped me study arm drags more clearly. I hope it helps you too.
